About the Course

This class is designed for students previously enrolled in Karen's classes or advanced students who are juried into the class. The focus is on acrylic and oil paints. Students will be taught composition, developing luminous color, using lost and found edges, telling the artist's story, and more. This class will equip you with the skills to achieve greater control over your medium and attain more tremendous success in your artwork and competitions, making your investment in these classes truly worthwhile.

A supply list will be provided upon enrollment with a list of colors based on the medium of choice.

Karen Vernon

Karen Vernon is an internationally recognized American artist celebrated for her mastery in watercolors, oils, acrylics, and pastels. She began her artistic journey as a child, taking a top award at the age of seven. Encouraged by her parents and teachers, she developed a profound appreciation for the flow of color. Vernon’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, which laid the foundation for her diverse artistic career.

Her works are distinguished by their luminosity and vibrant use of color, often depicting floral and natural subjects. Her paintings are part of numerous museum, private, and corporate collections worldwide.

In addition to her personal artistic pursuits, Vernon is a dedicated educator, teaching workshops across the United States, Canada and Europe. She emphasizes the importance of quality materials and a deep understanding of mediums to achieve the desired luminosity and intensity in her works.
